Day 4: Mt. Bromo and the Waterfalls

You will start the trip early in the morning to catch the sunrise.  You need to ride a 4×4, walk, and of course, hike.  Promise, it will all be worth it.  Be sure to bring a beanie, gloves and thick jackets.  Those winter jackets will surely be put into good use!

The reality up there!

Stay in one of the hotels around Mt. Bromo and enjoy the surroundings.  Walk around, take photos early in the morning as the skies are usually clear.  At night, enjoy the fog and walk to a nearby restaurant where you will see others who are also exploring the area.

Life goes on.

You can stay in  for a perfect view of Bromo in the morning.  It is literally just 10 steps away from he view deck.

Madakaripura Waterfalls

Around an hour away from the hotel, is the magical Madakaripura Waterfalls.  If you are not a fan of waterfalls, you will be, I guarantee!

You can get an ojek (motorcycle) that will take you to the entrance. Bring a raincoat or buy one before you ride that ojek!  It is a five minute ride and if you are ready to walk and explore, by all means, do so but be ready for the heat!  Pay the entrance fee and you start the adventure.  The exciting part is when you begin traversing the boulders while getting wet.  You literally need to crawl to avoid slipping at times.  No worries, almost everyone does that! There are some guides in the area who will assist and tell you the best way.

As the saying ‘Hard work leads to success’ goes, you will definitely curse and get scratches but when you look up and just gaze at the waterfalls, you will realise it was all worth it.  Walk, look around, listen to that rare music and of course, look up! Magic is just right in front of you.
